Click on the horizontal axis to select points for a frequency distribution. The frequency distribution is given in the first table, and the corresponding histogram is shown in the graph box. The class width (and hence the number of classes) can be varied with the scroll bar. The vertical axis can be selected as either frequency or relative frequency from the list box.

Glossary
axis
One of two straight lines on a graph from which measurements are taken. One axis (the y axis) is vertical; the other (the x axis) is horizontal.
frequency
Of a function: the rate of repetition of a periodic function.

histogram
A statistical diagram for continuous data similar to a bar chart but where the area of each bar is proportional to the frequency.
mean
the sum of all the members of the list divided by the number of items in the list.
median
the middle value of a set of data that has been arranged in order of magnitude; half the data values are above it and half are below.
mode
the value in a set of discrete data that occurs most frequently
standard deviation
The square root of the variance; a measure of dispersion.
